AN AMERICAN MOUNTAIN climber who fell down a 70ft hole was saved from certain death by asking for help on his Facebook page.
Geography professor and accomplished climber John All was mountain climbing in Nepal when he plummeted 70 feet into an icy crevasse.
His fall was broken by a narrow ledge, and though seriously injured he managed to climb out and back to his tent – a journey that took him nine hours.
Freezing and alone, with his teammates two days from reaching him, he put a call out for assistance on his Facebook page.

After the first call for help, John continued posting updates on his condition to Facebook, also uploading a video of his view from where he fell (Warning: The footage could be disturbing to some readers.)
GR can’t find a helicopter so I’ll try to survive tonight. I crawled back to tent. Unless the bleeding inside gets me, I should live.
Bleeding inside feels better but so cold. Pain meds running low. Longest night ever.
Metro reports that 19 hours after the fall, the weather cleared and the helicopters were able to locate Prof All.

Amongst the injuries he sustained were a dislocated shoulder, a broken elbow, five broken ribs, a smashed knee and a scarred left eye.
Prof All checked himself out of ICU on Wednesday, and thanked his friends for their support on Facebook.
“When I was shivering and bleeding and waiting for the chopper, the things I heard from the sat link kept me going,” he said.
Injuries across my body but no single one will kill me. The worst was having a dislocated shoulder for 32 hours before they could re-set it – worst pain I have ever felt.
The internal bleeding has stopped and they said the accumulated blood will go away. I landed on my right arm and side so both of my feet and legs were miraculously unhurt.
